My junior year painting studio at Portland School of Art (now MECA) was on the second floor of the Calderwood Bakery Building at the left right by the duct work. The current show in the gallery is Nathaniel Larrabee's beautiful Portland cityscapes, be sure to visit on First Friday! My December show will be "A Year in Pastel," all pastels done plein air based on two of Wolfe's Neck that set my work off in an entirely new experimental direction.

Pics from my eight day painting trip to the Katahdin area and Katahdin Lake Wilderness Camps. This year was a tough weather trip, lots of rain and wind and cold.

Oct 2, 2011, Sandy Stream Pond in the rain, a nice quiet hike at sundown, no moose to be seen.

Oct 3, 2011 on the Golden Road, every time that I got out of the car the rain started.

Oct 5, 2011 Katahdin Lake just after flying in, had a brief window at sunrise where the wind quieted enough to fly in after a day delay due to heavy low clouds and high winds and rain.

Late evening at The Caves, the tide coming in and the fishing boats were tied up offshore waiting for water in St Martins harbor to pull in to the dock. The water completely leaves the harbor at low tide! Crows walking along the top of the hill were causing rocks to tumble down the steep walls of the cliff.

Two clouds, two pools...went to paint at the marsh today but it was too windy for me. So I took a couple of mile walk and spent the time taking pics. The snow is finally gone, except in the shaded areas of the woods and the sun is bright. We're expecting a Nor'easter with snow tomorrow!
