Fall in the Garden, Westbrook, Maine

A beautiful warm fall day, took a stroll in the garden.  The red shrub is Fothergilla Major and this view is from the back deck down the path to the blue stone patio.  Looks like there's some raking to do, but today the fallen leaves looked beautiful right where they were.

Homeless Pumpkins, Portland, Maine

OK, it's the Monday before Halloween and all these pumpkins are still homeless.  Something must be done to save these guys from a lonely Halloween...

Saco Island, Saco, Maine

Still under the weather, so no photos the last couple of days, but I wanted to post this one from last weekend.  This was shot from Biddeford on a beautiful October day.  I loved the deep blue of the water and the yellow of the canopies on the mill.

Fall Window View, Westbrook, Maine

At home fighting a sinus infection and enjoying the fall colors out the window.  This is a beautiful Stewartia tree from the living room window in a small garden beside our house.  I love Stewartia, beautiful white flowers most of the summer, interesting peeling bark, small upright habit, great fall color.  It is not too commonly used here in Maine, this one is from O'Donals Nursery and has been happy in this small, sheltered side garden for 18 years.  Spending some down time watching old movies on TCM and catching up on some shows on the DVR with lots of green tea.

Rt 77 & Sawyer, Scarborough, Maine

Went out to paint today with a friend but the wind was gusting over 30 mph, so we decided to spend the day taking photos instead.  This is a favorite spot to paint at the Rachel Carson preserve on Sawyer Road.  The marsh has really started to turn the great fall colors.  Maybe first hard frost tonight.

Came upon these birds on the wires in the Scarborough Industrial Park while out shooting pics tonight.
