Show's Over Move on Folks

Isaac Dyer Galleries show is over, it was a wonderful opportunity for Fred and I to show our work together in a beautiful space, thanks Deb and Peter!  and so on to the next challenge, a two woman show with Kathleen Daughan later in the season at the Damariscotta River Grill.  This will be our plein air work, acrylics, pastels and oils painted on location all over Maine.  Now what to do with these?

Evening Breezes in the Garden

Much cooler in the garden this evening...nice cool breezes.  Flowers picked for Fred's evening floral still life photo.

Art House, Portland, Maine

Dropped off a pastel for framing at Art House today, love this courtyard at the Calderwood Bakery artists studios building.  My junior year painting studio at Portland School of Art (now MECA) was on the 2nd floor in the upper left corner of this pic.  Ed Douglas, painting prof.

Water Feature

It's so nice to hear the sound of trickling water in the garden.  Fred built this millstone water feature right off our deck.  The sound of the running water can be heard in the house and on the deck, very calming and peaceful.  Hope you have water in your garden!

Old Orchard Beach

Here's a photo from today's drive through OOB.  I love street signs and road markings.  A little lunch at Bailey's at Pine Point and a swing through the town to see what's happening.  Lot's of motel vacancies...a little odd for beautiful weather in July, plenty of cars from Quebec, though.

Evening Walk in the Brook

Took an evening walk in the Brook today, much cooler with a foggy mist.  Love the Sappi mill stack in the evening, sometimes it looks just like a Maxfield Parrish, with a teal sky and yellow light on the stack.

Fred Michel's Work

Today I am posting one of my husband's photographs that is in our two person show at the Isaac Dyer Galleries in Gorham, Maine.  I was very busy today preparing for our reception, so I didn't take any photos.  This is our first show together.  Hope you enjoy his garden still life!  More of his work can be seen at:

Two Lights State Park

Today's adventure and walk at Two Lights State Park, hot, hot, hot.  Then the sky turned very dark a few times, but blew out to sea.

A good friend stopped by and we had brownies for second breakfast!  It was really great to see her, she is a fabulous painter and very fun person!

Presumpscot Fill Up

Today's walk took me to the Presumpscot River where this water truck was filling up...hopefully this water is not headed to your drinking supply...kind of funny actually with the water truck and the porta-potty. I have often seen water trucks and hydro-seeders here filling up.  Three miles today!

Dana Warp Mill

Took a mini walk in Westbrook today, the water is very low at the falls.  I have painted this many times, it looks different every day!

Pine Point Beach

Today's walk on Pine Point Beach in Scarborough, water temp: bathtub!  Red seaweed in water: pudding!  The incoming waves were mahogany hued, but delightful anyway.  May have stopped at Ken's Place...

In the Dining Room

Too hot for me to walk today, but I did walk into the dining room!  The late day sun was shining in through the window on this beautiful Waterford crystal rose bowl that was a gift from my Auntie Alice over thirty years ago.  Thought this would make a good daily pic.

July 16, 2010 Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

Delivered my painting from the Plein Air days to the garden for next week's show, took my walk around the gardens.  The landscape is really starting to mature, a couple was rehearsing for their wedding and the 70 degree air was a great break from the heat wave!  The gardens were at peak color!  Visited the Alfond children's garden, it is so fabulous it made me cry...get thee to CMBG, ASAP!

Garden Walk

I was working on a painting project deadline today, so I didn't get to take a real walk.  But a walk in our garden is beautiful right now!

Moontide Garden, Portland, ME

Walked on the Harborside trail today, love this view of the International Marine Terminal over the Moontide garden.  No rain on my walk, but 78 degrees with 100% humidity, too hot for a native Maineuh!

Eastern Prom, Portland, ME

I decided to start a new blog of daily photos as a discipline for daily walking exercise and for a change from my Maine Paintings, looking forward to posting some interesting scenes around Maine and on my travels.

This morning on the Eastern Prom with a white fog bank hanging over Martin's Point, very hot and humid with no sun. Walked down to the East End Beach and the length of the beach, no one around except for the young sailors, low tide.
