Pic shot from Colony Beach in Kennebunkport today, just after I finished painting from this location. Strong winds and very humid air, started pouring just as I packed up. Love the red buoy and man's red shirt. Hurricane Irene is on the way this weekend.
Scary when these big rigs go past where I am painting on the Golden Road, maybe a little overloaded? The next one after this nearly tipped on this same curve in the road...was ready to dive for the ditch! Then I saw a big moose just below Abol Bridge.
Worked all day painting in North Light Gallery for ALL ABOUT COLOR reception, got out for a drive after dinner at Pelletier's. This is just after sunset from Abol Bridge, lots of campfires and fishing going on...the top of Katahdin in the clouds.
Had a nice dinner at the Scootic Inn with Marsha and Wayne and then a walk downtown with the full moon. Love the logging truck on Pelletier's Restaurant! In town to paint at Baxter Park and for ALL ABOUT COLOR: Painters Caren-Marie Michel and Marsha Donahue at North Light Gallery. Reception tomorrow 11-5 and I will be painting in the Gallery or plein air Millinocket street scenes just outside the Gallery, can't miss it on the way to Baxter, 256 Penobscot Ave.
I painted on Fish Beach most of the day and it was warm! An Outward Bound group was spending time on the Island on this boat and learning and exploring. The water was perfect for swimming, very calm. A native Mainer and my first trip to Monhegan! Beautiful!
